This year Essaouira will host the much-anticipated first event of a whole series of this years wave tour season. It has been nearly two years since the last wave event, which was held in Chile, South America. The PKRA can prove once again its status as the only Professional World Kiteboarding Tour by expanding its reputation year after year.

Morocco is known for its abundance of world-class right-hand point breaks. The surf spots along its 3500kms of coastline fire from heavy northern Atlantic swell energy. It will be an unforgettable freestyle and wave competition, so don�t miss it.

In addition to the Morocco event, other changes have been made to the 2010 PKRA Calendar. This includes the cancelation of the Greece freestyle event. We are confident this will be the final 2010 calendar however there is the possibility of yet another event been added in September.

Here are a few ways to stay hydrated while kiteboarding:

1. Chia Seed Water: The extremely healthy and natural way

When you put a Chia seed into water, it produces a thick gel, absorbing about thirty times its own weight in water. So you can probably see how this can benefit you while kitesurfing. When you drink the Chia seed water, the Chia Seeds will slowly release the water into your body and can easily keep you hydrated all day. Did I mention that Chia seeds are the richest source of Omega-3? There is a high energy to weight ratio in Chia seeds (More then corn, rice, oats, or wheats) and because of this it makes Chia a favorite choice for marathon runners and other athletes.

Chia seed history: Aztec warriors ate Chia seeds when they were on epic hunting trips. Also, Indians that lived in the Southwest would eat only Chia seeds soaked in water while they ran from Colorado to the Pacific to trade goods.

How to make it on the go: Grab any container and add one tablespoon of Chia Seeds per eight ounces of water (or juice) and mix it up to break lumps up. Then just let it sit while you head out to your local spot and by the time you get there it should be ready to drink!

2. Camel Pack: Drink while you kitesurf!

If you are annoyed by having to take a break off the water to get something to drink, then this is probably the choice for you. It is pretty self explanatory and all too convenient. You just wear it like a backpack while you kitesurf and you are good to go for a nice long session on the water.

Probably more useful for those of you who want to do long distance races or big downwinders… So I wouldn’t bother if you are just going out for a little session.

3. Morning Prep: Jump start your system!

So your probably thinking coffee right?… WRONG! Unless it is a lifestyle choice… in that case, cheers!

Drinking water throughout the time you wake up to the time you go kiteboarding will get your body prepared for the session ahead. So make sure to start early to optimize your riding abilities.

4. Electrolytes: Time to juice it up!

As you sweat your body will start to lose electrolytes that you need to keep you going. So a good way to boost the electrolytes in your body is by juicing! So you can either buy fresh juice from your local store(make sure the juice is organic for best results) or buy yourself a juicer and make it yourself when ever you feel like!

There are multiple combinations of juices that you can make for this, but just to give you an idea here is a few combination:

• Orange Juice, bananas, pineapple juice, coconut water and water
• Just coconut water
• Half orange juice, half water and a sprinkle of sea salt.
• Bananas, celery stalks, blueberries, and water.

If you are to lazy or not really into your health, you can always go get some Gatorade or Propel, but personally I generally stay away from that stuff.

5. Kite Surfing Partners: It’s good to have friends…

Try to kitesurf with a partner and keep each other in check. If you notice your buddy isn’t drinking enough, let them know. This technique/habit can be very useful to those of you who tend to forget to when you are on the water…

Wind Alert provides wind reports via forecasts and graphs from over 38,000 weather hot spots globally. You can perform selected area searches by entering your city/state, postal code, latitude and longitude, or the name of your local beach.

Also if you are familiar with iKitesurf.com or iWindsurf.com, then you are going to feel right at home with this app as the interface is really similar. You can sign in with your account to access your favorite Weather Flow stations.

Wind Alert pulls data from government (such as NOAA bouys, CMAN and NWS stations), academic, and private sources (which includes CWOP and APRS), as well as WeatherFlow’s network  of hundreds of strategically placed weather stations…. which is a continuously growing number.

Surf Report is an iPhone app that is specifically for wave reports. This can be useful if you are looking to see what kite spots are going off for waveriding.

You can browse your local beaches and also bookmark your favorites so that you can access them quickly to get your wave reports.

The other cool thing about this app is that you can join the community behind it and get insight from other locals and even the pros. Not to mention you can watch videos as well.
